My Scrubs set visit.

When we ariced at the North Hollywood hospital we asked about getting in and the security guard said we could in about half an hour. Today was a special day when they wraped up filming around noon. ANYWHO! On our way in we met Donald Faison (Turk) outside on the way to his car. We got a picture with him and let him on his way (he's a busy man and was talking on his cellular device). When we got in we made our way to the 3rd floor of the hospital which was the main office for the show. And low and behold in the halway we faced was 3 men and a woman. One Man was Zach Braff (hero) the shows creator, Bill Lawrence, and two unnamed people (who will be revealed shortly). Soon after Zach Braff started walking in our direction, so we asked him for a picture, and he of course posed with me and my sister, we shook hands and he too went on his way. Then Bill came over and introduced himself, so I got a picture with him as well. He then introduced the two other people from the hallway, one was the real JD, a JD who was infact a doctor and who the pilot episode was based off of. And now he manages all the realistic aspects of the show.

On to the set tour! Any way the set wasn't really a set, as much as it is a real hospital. We learned about how they had to repaint areas of the set before and after they finished filming each season because they only leased the hospital and didn't own it. The Coffee Bucks set is actually built into the hospital, one day they just took out a wall and started to put in a fake coffee shop. We went to the cafeteria where they film the cafeteria scenes, but they also will turn it into other sets sense it's one of the biggest rooms. There was one room that only had 3 arcade machines in there, (NBA jam, Spy Hunter, and Paperboy) These were Zach's machines which he brought from his own home and put in the room so people could go there to blow off steam and such (how cool is that). We met one guy who's basically incharge of lighting, and we saw him hanging out the window yesterday, and wewaved to him and he waved back, and apparently he told the creator "There looks like there's a real nice family outside" and Bill said "well go get them" so apparently he came outside to get us but he couldn't find us because by that time yesterday we had alreaddy left. ANYWAY, back to the set. The First floor of the hospital is huge, but we went into one section where they have Turk and Carla's appartment, which was actually built into part of the hospital, and there were parts of the hospital which they would just turn into other sets like like Elliots home, and inside a stomach. But they apparently never really leave the hospital for filming because everything the need is there. They said they got about 6 pages of filming done per day, and on rare occaisions when they shoot on location they only get like 2 pages done, and it's cheaper to just build things around the hospital then film on location. We also saw the morgue (in the basement) which only had 2 body closets (and apparently during Season 1 there was a bet going to see who could stay in them the longest). We also saw the Hospital Lobby, the staff chill out room (both in the show and where extras wait), and Doctor Coxs appartment. They're hard to describe, so I'll post pics when I get home (my cousins computer is slow so it takes to long to upload pics.)

Thanks for Reading!!!

By the way, this is the scene where they had to film inside a stomach...

Hi, I was just wondering how you got to tour the set of Scrubs? That would be my dream!

Well basically you just have to find the set (in LA, search sacred heart on google maps) then just go and ask for a tour and if they're not to busy that day they'll give you one.

Wow, really? It just depends on the day huh? you're lucky! I'm actually from San Diego so I would have to get lucky to be able to go on a set tour on the day that I show up. Plus I don't know if they're even still filming because the 7th season is starting in October. I also hear this is their last season, hmm maybe it's too late for me. Thanks for replying though!

I know this blog was written a while ago, but im still interested! Obviously filming has finished, but would they still let you near the outside steps/ramp with the sign saying Sacred Heart? Is it just a small security gate with a barrier? As all my friends and I want is a picture outside!

Many thanks

yeah it was just a small little security post, I don't know how much of the scrubs set is still intact since they're done filming. But the security guards were very nice when we were there so it can't hurt to ask.

I went at the end of February, and the security guard let me go in and take pictures of the outside...I ended up sneaking inside (nothing was locked), and it was actually kind of depressing to see everything looking so dead, but it was still worth it! I would highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area :)
